Beyond the Beach — Idyll Hounds Brewing Company in Santa Rosa Beach
Idyll Hounds is a small micro brewery, located in South Walton County. The brewery is quite small and their three regular beers, Divide and Conch’r, Man o’ Wheat and Ghost Crab Pilsna, are distributed only in the Florida Panhandle at this time. They package only in cans and kegs. Idyll Hounds can be found on tap in a number of area restaurants (World of Beer and Island Wings for example) and is available in quite a few liquor stores, including all Chan’s locations, World of Beer, ABC Liquor, Beach Liquors, and others.
The brewery is located at 845 Serenoa Rd, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 (850) 764-3955. You can visit Monday-Friday from 9-5 pm and Saturday from noon to 6 pm, but I strongly suggest that you call and check before you go. As of April 2018, they have 13 beers on tap to sample and you won’t find most of them anywhere except the brewery. This is small company and they are very friendly and hospitable to visitors.
Idyll Hounds is slightly over 21 miles from Marigot Place. Get on Hwy 98 headed east. Travel 20.2 miles to Serenoa Road. I didn’t see a street sign, but you will turn left off Hwy 98 into South Walton Commerce Park. This is about 4 miles east of Florida Hwy 395. Take Serenoa all the way until it ends and turn into their parking lot. The building only has a small sign, and you may wonder if you are in the right place. You are. Go in the door off the parking lot and you’ll find yourself in a hospitality area, right in the brewery.
Note that Idyll Hounds Brewing and Grayton Beer Company are in the same business park, so perhaps you’ll want to visit both.
