Beyond The Beach – The Air Force Armament Museum
The museum is located on the Eglin Air Force Base in Ft. Walton Beach, west of Destin. The museum allows guests to experience aviation warfare armament from the early days of World War I right through to today’s high tech planes and bombs. Inside, you’ll find an extensive collection of weaponry and cockpit simulators that will amaze and intrigue.
There are over 29 different aircraft displayed both inside and outside the museum including a B-17, B-25, B-52, P-51 and the fastest plane ever built – the SR-71 Blackbird.
The museum is located on Highway 85 South, 7 miles north of Fort Walton Beach. Open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
From Marigot Place, take Hwy 98 into Ft. Walton Beach, then take Hwy 85 north and follow the signs. The museum is on Air Force property, but you don’t access Eglin AFB itself. Distance is about 21 miles.
